Just 30 minutes a day could change your life

It makes you happy. It improves your health. It lowers your risk of serious illnesses. It boosts your brainpower and creativity. It makes you feel more confident. And that’s before you even consider the fact that it can help you lose weight, tone up, sleep better and give you more energy.

If you could buy this in a bottle, people would queue round the block for it, yet statistics suggest that the average person in the UK does only a third of the exercise they should. It’s all too easy to find excuses: “I don’t have enough time”, “I have to look after the kids”, “I’m too tired”... Truth is, you probably can make time, the kids can join in if they’re not in bed and you’ll get more of a lift from half an hour of exercise than you would from a 30 minute nap.

The NHS recommendation is that adults do at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week, that’s half an hour each day, five days a week. Only 30 minutes. Surely everyone should try to find that time for this ‘wonder drug’?

We’re launching our #take30minutes campaign to persuade you that it IS possible to find 30 minutes in your day, and there’s a lot of very good reasons why you should. The majority of our classes are 30 minutes long, so that’s a great place to start. Mix it up by walking a bit further some days, taking our webcam classes in the evening, maybe going for a swim at the weekend ‐ there’s lots of ways to get your 30 minutes without losing momentum.
